Amigurumi Baby Ghost with PomPom Hat Free Pattern-2

Materials and tools:
1) yarn recommended: YarnArt Baby Cotton, 50% cotton / 50%PAC, 165m*50g (180.44yds*1.76oz)
cream, col. A #402
orange or terracotta, col. B #421 or #429
yarn scraps of black yarn
2) hook size 1.75mm
3) needle for sewing, tapestry needle, scissors, pins, markers
4) stuffing
5) some plastic or cardboard for canvas
6) yarn for embroidery (I used acrylic thread) in colors: dark brown or black, pink
7) transparent fabric glue (or hot glue gun w/glue sticks)
8) safety eyes 7mm
Size: for recommended materials 9cm/3.5” in height with hat

Abbreviations (US terms):
YO – yarn over
MR – magic ring
st/sts – stitch/stitches
Rnd/rnds – round/rounds
BLO – back loop only
FLO – front loop only
sc – single crochet stitch
inc – increase (2sc in one stitch)
dec – decrease (2sc together)
ch – chain stitch
ss – slip stitch
hdc – half-double crochet
dc – double crochet
tog – together (meaning N stitches worked together)
[] – used for making patterns of stitches in one stitch
() – Parentheses are used for repeated patterns of stitches

How to close the hole:
Close the hole using a tapestry needle. When closing the hole use only the front loops and move around the circle from stitch to stitch until the hole closes nicely.

How to invisibly fasten off
finish with ss; using a needle insert it in both loops of the second stitch after the last stitch; then, insert it only in the back loop of the last stitch; secure the yarn.

Worked in the round with cream yarn. Don’t stuff.

Cut out of cardboard or plastic canvas circle with d~2.4cm (~1”) – it should be a bit smaller than
crocheted base. I recommend to glue it from the wrong side.

Secure eyes with plastic washers from the wrong side.

Stuff.
Keep the item upside down.
Cover the body opening with base and crochet 24ss through both layers to close the opening.
Insert hook FLO in stitches of Rnd 24 of the body and at the same time BLO in stitches of Rnd 4 of the base.
Stuff additionally if needed.
Finish invisibly, weave in ends.

SHROUD
Worked in the round top down with cream yarn starting from Rnd 14.
Attach cream yarn to any of 30 free front loops in Rnd 14 by slip st and crochet as follows.
Keep the item upside down.

Finish invisibly, weave in ends.
Bend the edge of the shroud making it look more natural with 8 folds. Sew the shroud to the body with 1-2sts between folds to fix them.
Embroider blush on cheeks with pink thread by making 2-3sts with 2sts in length between rounds 10 and 12 with distance 1st from outer edge of eye.
Embroider mouth with dark brown or black thread making stitch with 3sts in length between rounds 11 and 12. Lower the arc in the middle on 1row down.

ARMS (make 2)
Worked in the round from bottom up with cream yarn.
Don’t stuff.

Rnd 3-6 (1inc, 3sc, 1dec, 2sc) * 4rnds + 2sc, 1ss extra (8)
Cut the yarn leaving long tail for sewing.
Sew the opening over edge.
Sew arms aimed forward to the body sides symmetrically between round 12 and 17.

HAT
Worked at first back and forth and then in the round with orange or terracotta yarn.
Do not stuff.

RIBBON
Start with orange or terracotta yarn back and forth.
Row 1 4ch, from the 2nd ch from the hook 3sc (3)
Row 2-37 (1ch, turn BLO 3sc) * 36rows (3)
Note, that the number of rows can be various – you should try your ribbon to fit to the ghost head.
Fold the 1st one and the last row together so that matched and work 3ss through both layers joining ribbon in the circle.

HAT
Then continue to crochet the hat in the round inserting hook into braids and gaps in 1st Rnd.

Cut the yarn leaving long tail for closing and pompon fixing.
Close the hole with a tapestry needle.
Roll up the ribbon outside.

POMPON
To make a pompon wind a yarn around the fork.
You can use a several colors of yarn – I made (10 orange rounds and then 5 black rounds)*2.
Tie a knot around the wound yarn.
Cut the yarn on both fork sides.
Make pompom fluffy and cut it.
Attach pompon to the hat top by pulling the ends of the yarn from knot on the pompom though the hole in the hat (tightened Rnd 8 of the hat). Fix pompon with a knot from inside of the hat. Cut extra ends of the yarn.
Put the hat on the ghost.
