Project Details

This project is suitable for crocheters of all skill levels and will take approximately 3-5 hours to complete, depending on your experience.

Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in bright blue (main body)
• Black yarn (for beak and feet)
• White yarn (for eye detail)
• 3.0 mm crochet hook
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Safety eyes (10-12 mm)
• Yarn needle
• Stitch marker
• Scissors

If you prefer a softer texture, opt for chenille or velvet yarn, but standard cotton or acrylic yarn works just fine too.

Start from the top of the head and work downwards.

Round 2: inc in each st (12)

Rounds 7-12: sc around (36)

Insert safety eyes between rounds 9-10, slightly off-center for added charm.

Beak (Black Yarn)

The beak is made in two parts: upper and lower.

Upper Beak:

Round 1: MR, 6 sc

Round 2: (sc, inc) x3 (9)

Rounds 3-5: sc around (9)

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Lower Beak:

Round 1: MR, 5 sc

Rounds 2-3: sc around (5)

Sew under the upper beak, slightly curving downward.

Wings (Make 2 – Blue Yarn)

Round 1: MR, 6 sc

Round 2: (sc, inc) x3 (9)

Round 3: (2 sc, inc) x3 (12)

Rounds 4-5: sc around (12)

Flatten slightly and stitch small curved lines for feather details.

Leave a long tail for sewing.

Tail Feathers (Blue Yarn)

Make 3 small elongated pieces:

Row 1: ch 6

Row 2: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (5)

Fasten off and shape slightly with your fingers.

Attach them at the back, layering for a natural effect.

Legs & Feet (Black Yarn)

Legs (Make 2):

ch 6, sl st back along the chain

Toes:

Create 3 small chains (ch 3-4 each) from the base and attach them to form toes.

Sew securely to the bottom of the body to ensure balance.

Assembly

Sew the wings onto each side of the body, angled slightly downward. Attach the tail feathers at the back, layering them for a natural feathered look. Position and sew the beak centered under the eye. Finally, attach the legs evenly so that the parrot can stand securely.
